Promising Undergrad Member Senselessly Murdered

Being an innocent bystander leads to tragedy

Kebret Tekle of California State University - Sacramento’s Eta Lambda Chapter was sitting in her parked car when a fight broke out between two rival gangs. Shots were fired and a bullet hit Kebrek, ending her life.

This real-life tragedy was even more heartbreaking because Tekle was committed to the ideals of service that are rooted in the Sorority.

An article in The Sacramento Bee captures the promise of this young lady on so many levels. She was poised to be a leader in her field, as a woman and as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha. The article also dramatizes how fleeting life is.
